hey guys! this lovely week, we will be talking about energy!
not just any kind of energy though, were gonna talk about potential and kinetic energy!
You may think the only way to get energy is by drinking Pumkin Spice Latte's and Monster, but thats actually not the case! crazy right! there is energy is in everything! there is potential energy and kinetic energy.

POTENTIAL ENERGY-
Potential energy is energy based off an objects position or condition. for example, if there's a huge boulder on the edge of a giant cliff, it's potentail energy. it's about to fall off the cliff becasue that's the laws of gravity. but that's a different topic for a different week. Another example is, if you were Katniss Everdeen,(SPOILER ALERT) about to shoot  at a bag of apples to explode things, and you had your arrow drawn back, the arrow has potential energy becasue it is about to be shot.  






KINETIC ENERGY-
 Kinetic energy is an object in motion. for example, if you were on a rollercoaster, and you were going as fast as you could, that fast energy is Kinetic. Mass and speed come into play with Kinetic energy.
the more mass an object has, the more Kinetic energy it has. the faster you are going, more Kinetic energy in that object. Lets go back to the Katniss example- OK Katniss lets go of the arrow and it flies at the sack of apples. they topple onto the ground and the mines explode. When she let go of the arrow, that no longer is Potential, it was turned into KInetic energy. Now Kinetic energy can be transferred to one object to another. When the apples toppled to the ground adn hit the mines, they exploded. the explosion is now kinetic energy.

Now that you have a very good idea of what Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy are, lets put it into a real life situation.
ok there is a toy truck and a bouncy ball sitting on the edge of a counter. (both have potential energy) if you push them off the counter, it is transferred into Kinetic energy. But which one has more? The bouncy ball, or the toy truck? If you said the toy truck, your absoultly correct. The toy truck has more kinetic energy because it has a larger mass than the bouncy ball. And like i said earlier, the more mass, the more energy!!

as you can see- the truck has more mass than the bouncy ball and it can move faster therefore it has more Kinetic energy and more Potential energy.
